POLICIES OF THE

ATTENDANCE OFFICE

REPORTING ABSENCES

In the event of a necessary absence from school, the following procedures should be followed:

  1. On each day of absence, the parent or guardian is to call the school (773-282-8844, Ext. 237) between 7:00 and 10:00 a.m. to report the absence.
  2. It is the responsibility of the student to make up any work missed due to absence.

EARLY DISMISSAL PROCEDURE

Medical appointments are expected to be made outside of school hours.  However, if necessity requires you to be absent for a reason other than illness you must request permission in writing 24 hours in advance of the appointment from the Director of Attendance Officer. Other early dismissals (funeral, traffic court, etc.) follow the same procedure.

EXCESSIVE ABSENCE

When a student accumulates six (6) absences, a note will be sent home informing the parents of the problem. At ten (10) absences, any student without a doctor’s note could be dropped from class, regardless of their academic standing.
