Saint Patrick High School offers 12 male varsity sports, all of which offer various levels of competition for our student-athletes. The Shamrocks compete at a variety of prestigious facilities – from the baseball diamond at Kerry Wood Field to the football field of Triton College, Read-Dunning Park and the golf courses of Ridgemoor Country Club – in addition to hosting basketball, swimming, wrestling and more at the school.

The Saint Patrick High School Basketball Program consists of three teams (Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity) and is led by Coach Mike Bailey. Saint Patrick has had only two basketball coaches in the past 64 years, the legendary Max Kurland (35 years) and Coach Bailey, staring his 29th season. The Shamrocks, who have had only 4 losing seasons in the past 64 years, have had 4 Super Sectional berths and 22 Regional championships! Saint Patrick basketball is always recognized as one of the most consistent and successful programs in the Chicago area. The season runs from late November to State Playoffs in late March.
The Saint Patrick High School Bowling Program consists of two teams, Junior Varsity and Varsity. The Varsity team had a successful ’21-’22 season finishing 6th in the IHSA State Finals. The season runs from early November through the State Finals in late January.
The Saint Patrick High School Football Program consists of three teams (Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity) and is led by Coach Luke Mertens ’94 (Varsity) and Coach Paul Csongradi ’12 (Freshman/JV). The Shamrock Varsity squad advanced all the way to the third round of the IHSA State Playoffs in the 2021 season and produces numerous scholar-athletes each year. The football season runs from late August to late November with the State Final.
The Saint Patrick High School Golf Program consists of two teams (Junior Varsity and Varsity) and is led by Coach Teddy Kon ’11. In 2021, two Shamrock golfers advanced to the State playoffs. The golf season runs from mid-August to early October with the State Finals.
