PLACEMENT EXAM

Is this an Entrance Exam?

This is simply a placement exam for your son. Our Admissions Team takes each student’s Junior High report cards, Junior High standardized test scores and SPHS placement exam results and uses the comprehensive information collected from all three pieces to appropriately place your student in the correct academic program for their first year at Saint Patrick High School.

What does the Placement Exam entail?

Saint Patrick High School administers the High School Placement Exam (HSPT). The exam consists of five sections – Verbal, Quantitative, Reading, Mathematics and Language.

Families who test at another Catholic school may request that their scores be sent to Saint Patrick High School.

Does my son have to test here to be admitted?

Your son does not have to test at Saint Patrick High School to be admitted for the following school year, however he must test with us for guaranteed tuition assistance consideration.

What do students need to bring with them on exam day?

All students need at least two (2) #2 pencils and a water bottle. Calculators ARE NOT permitted unless applicant has an IEP/504 plan currently in place at their grade school.

Please submit your documents to Joe Cermak ’04, Director of Admissions at jcermak@stpatrick.org as soon as possible. Proper documentation for extended time must be submitted for your son to take the exam. 

Walk-ups

Walk-ups for the Make-up Exam are welcome on Saturday, December 9. The $25 registration fee may be paid by cash, check or credit card at the door.

Online Applications for Admissions

Online applications will be available the morning of the exam. Families who test at Saint Patrick High School are asked to complete an online application as soon as possible after the exam.

Tuition Assistance Application

The Tuition Assistance application will be available through FACTS on the morning of the exam. 8th grade families who test at Saint Patrick qualify for Academic Scholarships ranging from $2,500/year to $5,500/year. In addition, priority for Tuition Assistance will be given to families who test with on Saturday, December 2.

For families who test at Saint Patrick on Saturday, December 2, Tuition Assistance Award letters will be emailed the week of January 22, 2024.

For families who test at Saint Patrick on Saturday, December 2, Acceptance/Scholarship letters will be mailed the week of January 15, 2024.

The Make-Up Exam for students who do not test at another Catholic high school is Saturday, December 9, 2023.
