Dear Family,

In light of the Archdiocese of Chicago announcement, Saint Patrick High School will be closing our campus and moving to a Cyber Day schedule effective Tuesday, March 17 until further notice. During this time all athletic events and extracurricular activities are cancelled. This includes practices and rehearsals. As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread across the country and in Illinois, we are taking this significant step based on federal, state, and local recommendations to protect the health and well-being of our students, faculty and staff. We will continue to utilize this time to perform enhanced cleaning and disinfecting of the school, including all hard surfaces until further notice.

Due to the fluidity of the situation, we will be evaluating our schedule on a week-by-week basis. For the week beginning March 17, we will be on a Cyber Day schedule Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with previously scheduled days off on Monday, March 16 and Friday, March 20. Under Cyber Day procedures, faculty will post assignments to their class pages by 9:00 am. Students will complete and submit the assignments by 4:00 pm. Teachers will take attendance at that time based on assignment submission. Missing assignments will count as absences for the class and cannot be made up for late credit.

While it is expected that students should have their iPads, textbooks and workbooks at home for today’s Cyber Day, we will open the school building next Tuesday and Wednesday morning from 7 am – noon for any student who may wish to pick up additional materials or athletic equipment they need during this extended time. Students and parents should enter through the Main Entrance.

Please note the following event changes and cancellations:

Thursday, March 19 – Shamrock Sweepstakes Final Drawing will be postponed to a later date.
Tuesday, March 24 – ACT Test will be rescheduled.
Saturday, March 28 – Dads Club March Madness & Texas Hold ‘Em Party has been cancelled.
Kairos Retreat (March 31 – April 3) is cancelled.

We are continuing to evaluate the situation. Our goal is to communicate with you quickly and openly so that you can plan accordingly. With this in mind, we will email you each Friday with a plan for the following week. If the situation changes and an immediate response is required, we will communicate with you in a timely manner. Please check your email regularly during this time. We will also communicate via our automated phone call system, as needed, and have relevant information posted on our website at www.stpatrick.org/coronavirus-information/.

The health and well-being of our Saint Patrick family remains our first priority. We truly appreciate your patience, understanding and partnership in this challenging time. We continue to pray for all those dealing with the impact of this virus. We will keep you and your family in our prayers as we ask you to keep us in yours.

Sincerely,

Jon Baffico
