Saint Patrick Hall of Famer Tim McGarigle ’02 is now a member of the Green Bay Packers coaching staff.

McGarigle, 33, was brought on as Green Bay’s Defensive Quality Control/Assistant Linebackers coach, and will work under Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach Dom Capers.

The former Shamrocks linebacker lands in the NFL after one season at the University of Illinois, where he served as linebackers coach under former Chicago Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith. McGarigle was previously the linebackers coach at Western Michigan from 2012-15.

The St. Tarcissus alumnus is known as one of the best student-athletes in the history of the Shamrocks athletic program. McGarigle was an All-State linebacker and the East Suburban Catholic Conference Defensive Player of the Year at St. Pats, and was also a member of the National Honor Society.

He went on to set the NCAA record for career tackles while at Northwestern and was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the 2006 NFL Draft.

McGarigle becomes the second St. Pat’s alumnus currently coaching in the world of major professional sports. Brandon Bailey ’04 is a member of the Boston Celtics coaching staff.
