Dear Saint Patrick Community,

This morning, we were made aware of a social media post utilizing derogatory racial language made by a person employed by Saint Patrick High School. The administration took immediate action to investigate and promptly administered appropriate disciplinary action. We are writing to assure you that this behavior will not be tolerated, and the appropriate measures have and will be taken with the employee involved.

We would also like to take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment as a Catholic, Lasallian institution to the respect and dignity of every person. We join Brother Superior General Robert Schieler, FSC and fellow Lasallians to “persevere in our educational mission to bring about systemic change for a more just and peaceful world for everyone.”

We’d like to remind our faculty/staff and students of the importance of living by our Lasallian, Catholic faith and values, particularly during these unsettling times. Please remember your presence on social media reflects you, your family and our community.

At a time when many in our school community are struggling due to the societal unrest and racial tensions in our country, we must continue to stand together and act in accordance with our mission and core values. We continue to pray for those who suffer from injustice, that justice may be served. We also continue to pray for those who put themselves in harm’s way to protect our communities.

As we move forward, let us ask God, our Father, to guide us as we uphold the dignity of every person, celebrate our diversity, and affirm and sustain respectful human relationships within our community.

Saint John Baptist de La Salle, pray for us.

Live, Jesus, in our hearts. Forever!
