Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. The theme for this year’s National Catholic Schools Week  is “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.” The theme encompasses the core products and values that can be found in Catholic schools across the country. In Catholic schools, we are all learners, servants, and leaders. These shared qualities are what make Catholic schools work. They are what make Catholic schools succeed.

Please see below for some of the activities planned as Saint Patrick High School celebrates Catholic Schools Week.

Monday, January 27 – Students will start to collect toiletries and monetary donations to purchase winter clothing items for homeless veterans as part of the Haerther Scholars service project with Brother Rice, De La Salle, Holy Trinity, Mother McAuley and Trinity High Schools. The six schools participating in the project will gather on Monday, February 3 at Saint Patrick to put together care packages that will be distributed through Rags of Honor. For more information, please read last week’s press release.

Items including travel size: toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, soap and combs and monetary donations will be collected in Religion Classes. There will also be a box for toiletries in the Counseling Office.

Tuesday, January 28 – Students, faculty and staff will gather for an All-School Catholic Schools Week Liturgy. All current parents are invited to join us. Please arrive prior to 9:45 am and check in at the Main Office if you would like to attend. An Army veteran from Rags of Honor will be at Liturgy to speak about their work with veterans and the Haerther Scholars service project.

All are invited to join us at Culver’s (4939 W. Irving Park Rd.) from 4-7 pm to support Lasallian Youth’s participation in the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Chicago. Please click here for flyer to show on your smartphone and 10% of the proceeds will be donated.

Wednesday, January 29 – Students will make 1,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches during Lunch periods to be distributed to the homeless in our community through the nonprofit organization Night Ministry.
