(Chicago, IL, October 7, 2021) – Saint Patrick, the oldest all-male Catholic high school in Chicago, announced today that Christopher Hall has been named the new head baseball coach. Hall, the 2019 Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA) 3A Coach of the Year, comes to Saint Patrick with over 20 years coaching experience.

Most recently, Hall led the De La Salle Meteors to two Super Sectional appearances in his six years as head coach. During Hall’s tenure, De La Salle won two division titles and finished as co-champions a third year. In 2019, De La Salle was ranked number three in the state for the first time in school history. At De La Salle, Hall coached a player (RHP Ben Hernandez) who was drafted with the 41st pick overall by the Kansas City Royals in 2020.

“We hired Chris to establish Saint Patrick as a top baseball program on the Northwest Side,” said Athletic Director Matt Reardon. “We are confident that with his success as a head coach, he will put us in a position to compete at the highest level day in and day out.”

Hall began his coaching career at Roberto Clemente High School in 1999 where he spent 14 years, including seven as head coach. In his second season at the helm, Hall led Clemente to their last city championship in 2009.

In 2001, Hall was hired as an associate scout by the Atlanta Braves, a position he held until 2019 covering Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and parts of Wisconsin. In his 10 years as a hitting and infield coach with the premier Illinois Sparks Travel Baseball Club, Hall coached numerous players who went on to play college and professional baseball, including five players who are currently playing in Major League Baseball.

Hall, who will also serve as a member of the Admissions team, is excited for the opportunity to lead the Shamrocks. “There is so much talent on Chicago’s north side and in the surrounding areas,” Hall said. “I look forward to attracting that talent to Saint Patrick and building on the winning tradition of the baseball program.”
