James R. Labuz ’78

Jim Labuz is a Shamrock through and through.  While he has three brothers and five nephews that bleed green and gold, he is most proud to be the father of four Shamrock sons.  After graduating from St. Patrick High School in 1978, Jim attended the Illinois Institute of Technology from which he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.

He began his 30 plus years in the curtainwall industry in 1983. Jim managed multiple high profile projects for the nation’s largest glazing contractor.   In 1995 Jim Purchased Mid-States Glass and Metal Inc and has served as the President for the last 18 years.

Mid-States Glass and Metal has completed many notable curtainwall and glazing projects in the Chicago market.  St.Patrick Vision 2000,  the Burberry Flagship Store, 340 East Randolph and the Museum park campus which has seven high rise buildings, the tallest being a 63 story tower which can be seen during all the Bears home games.

Jim and his wife Gina have lived on the Northwest side of Chicago for their entire married life and have been members of St. Cornelius for 28 of those years.
