Dear Alumni, Parents, and Friends of Saint Patrick,

Every May, at our final Board Meeting of the year, I share a summary of what has been accomplished during the year from the principal’s perspective. I value this opportunity to celebrate all that we have accomplished not only this school year, but also over the past six years since launching the school’s first strategic plan.

Simply put, Saint Patrick High School is a better school today than we have ever been—from curriculum, to faith formation, to facilities, to fundraising. We continue to live the mission our founder set 350 years ago of “providing an educational experience of the highest quality which enables young men to develop to their maximum potential as lifelong learners and assets to society and the Church.” In the area of curriculum, we have implemented new courses and activities, developed a STEAM program, increased ACT scores, and supported teacher growth through professional development and graduate level education. Our students continue to grow in their faith formation—through a four-year retreat program, eucharistic minister training, and a record number of service hours and projects. The facilities have gone through numerous upgrades, internally and externally. Some examples include our STEAM lab, INCubator lab, Health & Wellness Center, and the ability for our football and baseball teams to play at state-of-the-art facilities at Triton College and Kerry Wood Cubs Field. Our donor participation is at all-time high as evidenced in our capital campaign and events such as the Green & Gold Gala, Shamrock Golf Outing, and Shamrock Sweepstakes. These are just a few of our countless accomplishments.

We will publish the year five results of our strategic plan efforts later this summer with more detail on progress with Curricular Development, Lasallian Mission and Catholic Identity, Facilities and Operations, as well as Finance and Institutional Advancement.

So, what happens next? We must formulate the next strategic plan that incorporates the current challenges and opportunities that exist for Saint Patrick High School as well as other Catholic schools. This work, planning, and effort will take place beginning this summer and into next year.

As another outstanding year of schooling ends, I want to thank the Saint Patrick community for its dedication and hard work. We do make a difference in the lives of our students, and through them I believe we are making the world a better place for everyone.

God bless!
