Gregory P. Josefowicz ’70

Greg is a 1970 graduate of St. Pat’s, and during his high school years – and for many years thereafter – he was employed at Jewel-Osco, where he worked his way up through positions in merchandising, marketing and operations before being named the President of the company in 1997.  In 1999 the Illinois Retail Merchants Association named him “Retailer of the Year.”

From 1999 through 2006, Greg served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Borders Group, Inc., a $4 billion global retailer of books, music, and movies.  Since his retirement from the Borders Group in January 2006, Greg has served on the Board of Directors of 11 different companies.  Today, he still serves on the Board for US Cellular, Empire Co. (Canadian grocer) and KeHE Foods.

A graduate of Michigan State University, Greg also holds a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and served on the school’s Management Advisory Board.

Greg and his wife, Carol, currently live in Chicago and Fennville, MI. They have three daughters: Leslie, Lauren, and Lynne.
