SHAMROCKS
Join us and celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day alongside Chicago’s oldest, all male Catholic High School. Saint Patrick High School will once again be participating in both the Northwest Side Irish Parade on Sunday, March 11, and the Chicago Downtown Parade on Saturday, March 17. All Shamrock students and staff are invited to march alongside the Saint Patrick High School float. Those interested in joining Saint Patrick at either parade should see the Director of Alumni Relations and Head Wrestling Coach, Dominic Angelo for more details. Coach Angelo’s email and information to contact is on the school website. Let’s show all of Chicago our Shamrock pride!
MUSIC
The Jazz Band and the Honors Jazz Band traveled to Rolling Meadows High School on Saturday to participate in the Jazz in the Meadows Competition. Both bands performed well. Senior Andres Vargas, Junior Jerry Xu, Sophomore Mike Hegarty, and Freshman Jay Laboe were all honored with being named Outstanding Musicians. Congratulations to these 4 musicians and both bands!
BOOK DISCUSSION
Reminder to Junior/Senior Book Discussion Groups: your meeting to discuss The Magicians is Monday, March 12th. Make sure you finish reading! Frosh/Soph Groups, your meeting to discuss Ready Player One is Thursday, March 22.
3D PRINTING
Don’t get left behind! 3D printing is the way of the future but you can learn about it now. Join our 3D Printing Club that meets during each of the lunch periods. Learn the easy CAD tool for designing a project then learn how to use the 3D printer to print your design. If you’re not sure you want to commit to joining the club, just come for a couple of lunch periods or during your study to create and print a simple design. See Mrs. Esola for details or to sign up for a lesson. We promise you’ll be hooked.
VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS
Volleyball tryouts will be held March 5th in the Auxiliary Gym from 2:45 – 4:00 P.M. for freshmen and 4:00 – 5:30 P.M. for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. No experience necessary.
