Sophomore Robert Hernandez scored the game-winning goal in the Saint Patrick water polo team’s 7-6 victory over Curie in the semifinals of the Fenwick Sectional on Thursday, May 11.

With the game tied at 6-6 Hernandez hit the game-winner with about 1 minute, 30 second left in the game and the Shamrocks were able to hold on for the victory. St Pat’s had been playing from behind for the majority of the contest and had only tied the game midway through the fourth quarter.

The victory avenges the Shamrocks’ 6-4 loss to Curie earlier this season.

Junior Nathan Deluna and sophomore Jack O’Rourke each had two goals in the victory, while senior Michael Taylor and junior John Sandman each added one goal.

St. Pat’s will be back in action on Friday, May 12, when the Shamrocks take on top-seeded Fenwick at 7 p.m.
