Saint Patrick senior Michael Valicento has been awarded the Chick Evans Scholarship.

Valicento will receive a full college tuition and housing scholarship, renewable for four years. He has not yet decided which university he will attend, but is considering Notre Dame, Northwestern, Purdue, Illinois and Marquette.

“I’m extremely honored and grateful to be able to represent Saint Patrick and the Chick Evans Association,” Valicento said.

The Dever Elementary graduate is an All-Conference and Academic All-State football player, a state qualifying wrestler and the president of the National Honor Society. He currently has a 4.27 grade point average on a four-point scale.

Each year, more than 900 deserving golf caddies from across the country attend college on a four-year scholarship from the Evans Scholars Foundation. Selected applicants must have a strong caddie record, excellent grades, outstanding character and demonstrated financial need.

Valicento becomes the 94th St. Pat’s graduate to receive the Chick Evans Scholarship. Saint Patrick leads the nation in Evans Scholars, with 15 graduates currently a tuition-free education thanks to the scholarship.
