The Shamrocks (0-2) played their second game of the season on Friday at Glenbrook South.

Senior Joey Lombardi had five catches for 80 yards and two TD’s and now has three touchdowns on the season while senior Joey Solak ran for 75 yards on 14 carries and scored on one of two recovered fumbles by Saint Patrick but the Shamrocks fell to the Titans 34-21.

“Despite the final score,” says Head Coach Adam Guerra, “the guys showed growth.” “We need to improve on execution but we’re in the right spot, which is half the battle,” Guerra noted, “The guys saw that on film and have practiced hard already since Friday’s game.”

“The key, and I can’t stress this enough,” Guerra said, “is to get better and better as the season goes on.” “We found out a lot about ourselves in the first two games,” and as the Shamrocks prepare for their first conference game against Joliet Catholic this week, he added, “We’re close.”

“It’s conference time,” says Guerra, “where seasons are made.” And from the sound of it, the team will be ready.

Saint Patrick plays at Joliet Catholic Friday, September 8 at 7:30 pm.
