The Saint Patrick basketball team continued its hot start to the season with a second-place finish in the Jack Tosh Holiday Tournament.

The Shamrocks cruised past their first four opponents – winning by an average of 27.5 points per game – but were unable to keep their streak alive in the final, falling to Conant in the championship game by a final score of 49-35.

Senior Laurence Merritt and Junior Xavier Pinson were each named to the All-Tournament team. Merritt averaged 16.8 points per game and 2.6 steals per game, while Pinson averaged a tournament-best 5 assists per game and 12.8 points per game.

St. Pat’s opened play in the Jack Tosh Holiday Tournament by defeating Oswego 79-55. The Shamrocks then went on to defeat Schaumburg, 85-47, St. Laurence, 75-45, and Wheaton North, 76-58.

St. Pat’s is now 12-2 on the season and will return to action on Friday, Jan. 6, when they host IC Catholic Prep at 7 p.m.
