The 2018-19 Shamrock wrestling season has started off with promise. Last Friday the Shamrocks defeated Loyola Academy 52-12 at home. The best match of the night came by way of freshman Alex Goworowski (160 lbs) with a dominating 10-2 major decision.

The teams top returner Brad Ritter is off to a 7-0 start in his senior campaign. A returning IHSA State Qualifier, Ritter has already beaten the #4 ranked wrestler in his weight class and now finds himself ranked 5th at 120 lbs in the 2A division. New to the Shamrock varsity lineup is freshman Sean Conway (106 lbs) who has already made his presence felt. Conway is also perfect on the season with a record of 7-0, every win this year coming via bonus points, and is currently ranked 7th at 106 lbs in 2A. Other top performers for the varsity wrestling team are junior Delano Walker (132 lbs), who is currently 5-2 with four of his five wins coming via pinfall and is ranked as an honorable mention in his weight class in 2A, and freshman Goworowski who is also 5-2 on the year.

The Shamrocks travel this week wrestling on Friday night at St. Ignatius High School versus St. Ignatius, Fenwick and St. Laurence. On Saturday the team travels to Buffalo Grove High School for the annual Rex Lewis Invitational, a sixteen-team individual tournament.
