Below are results for Shamrock Athletics this past week and weekend.

Basketball

The #2 Shamrocks defeated #16 Foreman on Tuesday night in the Regional Semi-Finals by a score of 54-27 to advance to Friday night’s Regional Finals vs. #7 Grayslake Central. Shamrocks won the game on Friday 55-48 to secure their second consecutive Regional Championship and 23rd in school history. Senior captain Dominic Galati led scoring in both games with 26 points on Tuesday and 16 on Friday.

Saint Patrick, the #2 seed in the 3A Grayslake North Sectional, will play #3 St. Viator on Wednesday night. Tip off at Grayslake North is 7 pm. The winner will play the winner of Tuesday night’s #1 Notre Dame vs. #5 Deerfield game on Tuesday in the Sectional Finals at Grayslake North on Friday night at 7 pm.

Swimming

On Sunday 3/8, the Swim Team held their end of season awards banquet at Biagio’s. Listed below are the award winners and next year’s Swim Team captains.

Freshman Swimmer of the Year: Alex Moroko 

Sophomore Swimmer of the Year: Christian Mammoser 

Junior Swimmer of the Year: Sergio Mendieta

Senior Swimmer of the Year: Dominic Sabella

Most Improved Swimmer of the Year:  Joshua Esquilin ’21

Congratulations to all of our swimmers on a terrific season and thank you again to our seniors and their families for their support of Shamrock Swimming!

Track & Field

The Shamrock track team competed at Buffalo Grove High School in the 21st Annual Joe Scarpino Invitational. Junior Joseph Nega scored 10 of the Shamrocks 16 points for the day finishing 6th overall out of 27 athletes in the 55m dash with a time of 6.72 seconds crushing his previous best of 7.11 seconds. He also finished in 4th place in the 55m intermediate hurdles with a time of 8.84 seconds again beating his previous personal best of 9.8 seconds. Junior Christian Schwab competed in his first meet and finished in 5th place out of 23 in the long jump and 8th out of 22 in the triple jump.

Shamrocks compete on Thursday at Maine East vs. Maine East, Northridge Prep and Maine West at 4:30 pm.

Wrestling

Shamrocks competed in the IWCOA Fresh/Soph Sectionals this weekend at Evanston High School. Sophomore PJ Summers (138 lbs) and freshman Gio Hernandez (160 lbs) both finished 4th advancing to the State Tournament in Springfield this weekend. Sophomore Daniel Espinoza (152 lbs) also competed and was one match short of qualifying.
