Below are results for Shamrock Athletics this past week and weekend.

Basketball

Saint Patrick Hoops traveled to Joliet Catholic and defeated the Hilltoppers 60-49 to earn a road conference win and improve to 15-5, 4-1 in the ESCC.. Sophomore Timaris Brown had 21 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocked shots and 3 assists in the game.

Shamrocks next home game is this Friday, January 31st vs. Marist at 7 pm. The late legendary coach, Tom Buscarini, will be honored during halftime. It is also Alumni Night. Bowling

For the third consecutive season, the Shamrocks are headed to the IHSA State Finals in O’Fallon, IL. Shamrocks finished 2nd out of 16 teams at this weekend’s Sectional. Leading the way for Saint Patrick were Jacob Perry ‘22 (5th Place – 216 avg), Joshua Baumstark ‘20 (6th Place – 215 avg), Nate Emperado ‘20 (7th Place – 214 avg) and Bobby Habetler ‘22 (9th Place – 211 avg). Shamrocks will be one of 24 teams competing in the State Finals beginning this Friday 1/31. The Top 12 teams will advance to Saturday. 

Hockey

Shamrock Hockey lost to a surging D155 team on Sunday by a final score of 6-0. Shamrocks finished the regular season in 5th place.

UPDATE: Shamrocks will play Lane Tech in the first round of the IHSHL playoffs on Saturday 2/1 at 6:10 pm at American Heartland Ice Arena. The playoffs are a three-game round robin with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals.

The rivalry game vs. Notre Dame that was going to be played on Saturday will be rescheduled. The two teams will still play on Tuesday 2/5 at Parkway Bank Park in Rosemont.

Swimming

Shamrock Swimming competed in 3 meets in 4 days with Varsity defeating St. Rita 99-71 and losing to St. Ignatius 81-66. JV defeated St. Ignatius 94-66 and St. Rita 113-54. The Shamrocks took 10th out of 16 teams over the weekend at the Buffalo Grove Invitational.

Varsity will host St. Viator on Thursday 1/30 at 5 pm. There will be an Informational Meeting for Shamrocks interested in Water Polo on Monday, February 3rd at 3 pm on the pool balcony.

Wrestling

Saint Patrick hosted the Mroczek Freshmen Invite this Saturday with 15 teams participating. Gio Hernandez finished in 5th place at 170 lbs and Armando Martinez finished in 6th place at 182 lbs.

Varsity competes in the ESCC Conference Championships on Friday 1/31 at Joliet Catholic beginning at 3:30 pm.
