Below are results for Shamrock Athletics this past weekend.

Basketball

Saint Patrick Hoops (17-6, 5-2) lost only their second conference game of the season and first game since January 11 on Friday vs. #4 Notre Dame. Junior Caleb Corro led the Shamrocks with 17 and senior Dominic Galati added 14 in the 58-43 road loss.

Shamrocks look to bounce back this Friday 2/14 at Nazareth Academy. Tip off is 7 pm. Sophomores play at 5:30. The last regular season home game is Friday 2/21 vs. Marian Central. Senior basketball players, cheerleaders and dancers will be honored prior to the 7 pm Varsity game. Saint Patrick will host the IHSA Regionals the week of March 2nd.

Hockey

Shamrock Hockey will continue postseason play this week with games on Wednesday 2/12 at Carol Stream vs. Fox Valley (6:45 pm) and Saturday 2/15 at Leaf Center vs. Crystal Lake South (4:20 pm).

Shamrocks look to advance to the Semi Finals on Sunday 2/16 with wins against Fox Valley and Crystal Lake South.

Swimming

This past weekend the Swim Team competed in the Metro Catholic Aquatic Conference (MCAC) Championships. Varsity and Frosh/Soph competed on Saturday and Junior Varsity had their meet on Sunday. Please see below for results for all three levels.

Varsity Team – 8th Place
Jacob Munyon ’21 – 8th place (500 yd Freestyle)
Lance Min ’20– 7th place (100 yd Breaststroke)

Frosh/Soph Team – 4th Place
Christian Mammoser ’22 – 3rd Place (200 yd Freestyle & 500 yd Freestyle)
Alex Moroko ’23– 7th place (50 yd Freestyle)
Liam Jackson ’22– 7th place (100 yd Breaststroke)
Jason Koulogeorge ’22 – 8th place (100 yd Breaststroke)

Junior Varsity Team – 3rd Place (The following Shamrocks finished in the top 8 in their event)*

Shamrocks will host their last home swim meet tomorrow night (Tuesday 2/11) at 5 pm vs. Mt. Carmel and Notre Dame. The flower presentation for Senior Night will take place at 5:15 pm.

Track & Field

Shamrock Track & Field had its first contest of the season at Maine East High School on Saturday vs. Mather, Northridge Prep and Maine East. Junior Joseph Nega and Sophomore Nicholas Walters were top performers in the 50 yard dash. Junior captain Juan Celio ran a personal record 5:08 minute mile, crushing his previous PR of 6 minutes from last season. Freshman Liam MacLellan finished with a 5:27 mile, junior Andrew Tomlin threw the shot put a personal best 29 feet, sophomore Jeremy Mendyk threw a shot put of 31 feet 5 inches and senior Cristian Salas started off as he finished last season strong in the Triple Jump with a distance of 10.67 meters (35 feet). 

Shamrocks will compete again this Wednesday 12/12 at Maine South High School against Notre Dame and Maine South. Support the Track & Field team on Saturday 2/15 at Chipotle with the attached flyer.

Wrestling

Saint Patrick competed in the IHSA Regionals on Saturday at Elmwood Park High School. Shamrocks finished 3rd as a team with four Regional champions:

Sean Conway ‘22 (113 lbs)
Alex Goworowski ‘22 (182 lbs)
Jimmy Clancy ‘21 (195 lbs)
Ronald Krewer ‘20 (220 lbs)

Also qualifying for Sectionals:

Del Walker ‘20 (2nd at 138 lbs)
John Dineen ‘23 (3rd at 126 lbs)
Nick Armenta ‘22 (3rd at 160 lbs)
Gio Hernandez ‘23 (3rd at 170 lbs)

The eight Shamrocks will compete in the IHSA Sectionals on Friday 2/14 (6 pm) and Saturday 2/15 (9 am) at Deerfield High School.
