Both ShamBot First Tech Challenge (FTC) teams, ShamBot Green & ShamBot Gold, have qualified for the Illinois FIRST Tech Challenge State Championship. The competition, an intense two-day event showcasing robots developed and operated by teams of high school students, will be held this Friday, February 22 and Saturday, February 2 at Elgin Community College in Elgin.

ShamBot Green, a member of the winning robot alliance at the league qualifying competition on February 8, won the Inspire Award, the highest award in the FIRST Tech Challenge. ShamBot Gold took home the Think Award and the 3rd Place Inspire Award.

This is, by far, the best showing the teams have had in their three years of existence,” said Head Coach, Kori Bowns. “They did a great job on the field and in their judging presentations.”
