The Shamrocks competed in the Annual Interscholastic Conference of Private Schools (I.C.O.P.S) Invitational at Lewis University on Sunday, February, 24th.  Saint Patrick took 14 student-athletes, including two seniors, three juniors, six sophomores and three freshmen to represent the Shamrocks among the 20 other Catholic/private schools in attendance. The top 8 finishers earned points for the total team score. The Shamrocks represented well, including finishing a second or two away from the top 8 in a few events.

Senior Jack Bullock, who has been named Saint Patrick Athlete of the Week, finished in 1st place out of 20 in the 55 Meter High Hurdles. Not only did Jack win the race, he improved on his 8.12 prelim time, the fastest, with a final time of 8.03. “Jack has had a phenomenal season thus far and he continues to get better.” said Head Coach Anthony Griffin ’92.

The 4 x 200 meter relay team (Nick Walters ’22, Christian Schwab ’21, Mickey Leyden ’20, and Bullock) finished in 11th place with a time of 1 minute 45.5 seconds, less then 2 seconds away from placing in the top 8.

Sophomore Andrew Tomlin threw his personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 30 feet 9 inches (previous 28 feet 2 inches). Leyden competed in his last meet of the indoor season (55 Meter Dash & 4 x 200 Meter Relay Team) as he will be going on to play on the Shamrock Volleyball team in the Spring. “We were happy to have him on the team,” Griffin said. “He had a great experience and it helped to prepare him for his upcoming volleyball season.”

“It was an overall good day for the Shamrocks as we improved in particular events,” Griffin said. The Shamrocks compete again on Saturday, March 2nd at the Buffalo Gove Invitational. “We are looking to continue our improvement individually and as a team.”
