Please see below for a letter from President Dr. Joseph G. Schmidt sent to parents, alumni and friends on Friday, October 11, 2o19.

Greetings from the Home of the Shamrocks!

The 159th year at Saint Patrick High School is off to a fantastic start as we continue to celebrate our strong, vibrant community, vast network of alumni and, especially, the young men who attend our institution.

As you may have heard last May, Resurrection College Prep High School announced the Resurrection Sisters are transferring their sponsorship to the Christian Brothers of the Midwest. The Christian Brothers sponsor 65 universities and 1,000 schools around the world including five high schools in the Chicagoland area: De La Salle Institute (Chicago), St. Joseph High School (Westchester), Montini Catholic High School (Lombard) and Saint Patrick High School (Chicago).

Since the announcement, there has been speculation about whether Resurrection College Prep and Saint Patrick will merge. While we are excited to welcome Resurrection to the Lasallian family and look forward to strengthening the relationship between these two outstanding single-gender high schools, Saint Patrick is proud to remain the oldest all-male Catholic High School in Chicago at our current location on Belmont and Austin.

There are many exciting things happening in my 53rd year at Saint Patrick including the continued growth of our STEAM program, now in its third year, and the INCubator Entrepreneurship Program, in its fourth year. We’re proud to offer students more opportunities to earn college credits and real-life experience this year through new course offerings and partnerships with Lewis University and the Shedd Aquarium. In addition, our student-athletes continue to play at state-of-the-art facilities including Triton College, Kerry Wood Cubs Field and the new Read Dunning Park.

As a school, we remain committed to helping families afford the cost of today’s Catholic High School education with $1.5 million in scholarships and tuition assistance granted annually thanks to the support of our many alumni and friends.

To learn more about Saint Patrick High School, and all the wonderful things happening on campus, I hope you will join us and help spread the word about our upcoming Fall Open Houses on Thursday, October 24 and Thursday, November 14 from 6-8 pm.

St. John Baptist de la Salle, pray for us.

Live, Jesus, in our hearts. Forever!

Dr. Joseph G. Schmidt, AFSC

President
