Library Media Center Guidelines
• The LMC is to be used for research, study and leisure reading.
• Disruptive noise, headphones, cell phones, sleeping and card playing are not allowed.
• No food or drink is permitted on the main floor or the computer lab of the LMC.
• All school rules, including the dress code, apply in the LMC during operating hours.

Checking Out LMC Materials

• A current student ID is required
• Two-week check out
• Two-week renewal
• Overdue items 5 cents per day, per item
• Reference books may not be checked out

Magazine Check Out
Students may check out magazines by filling out a Magazine Request Form and handing in their student ID card at the circulation desk.

Lost and Damaged Items
Students are responsible for LMC materials that they check out and are required to pay for damaged or lost items. Theft and mutilation of LMC materials, equipment, or furniture shall be regarded as a serious offense.

Getting a Pass to the LMC
•Students need to obtain a library pass from a classroom teacher in order to use the LMC.

•Students must have their homeroom teacher or study hall teacher sign the pass before they leave class.

• Students must come directly to the LMC from the class. They may not stop at the restroom or their locker.

• Students should remain in the LMC until the period ends.

• Homeroom teachers and study hall teachers may, at their discretion, refuse to allow an individual student to use the LMC.

• Students who are either disruptive or repeatedly do not follow the library rules will not be allowed to get library passes for study hall, homeroom or lunch.

LMC Computer Lab
• Students may check their e-mail and browse the Internet before and after school.

• From Period A through Period H students must be doing homework and may not use e-mail or browse the Internet.

• Students are never allowed to play games or send text messages on the computers.

• Students must follow all guidelines of the Internet Acceptable Use Policy as it is printed in the student handbook.

Reading Loft
• The Reading Loft is designed to promote reading among both students and staff.

• The Fiction Collection and Short Story Collection are located in the Reading Loft.

• A coffee/cappuccino/hot chocolate vending machine is available in the Loft.

• All drinks must be kept in the Loft.

• No outside food or drink may be brought into the Loft.

• Students may not eat their lunch in the Reading Loft unless they are participating in the Book Discussion Group.

Book Discussion Groups
Book Discussion Groups are available for each grade level. The various group levels meet in the Reading Loft once a month during lunch periods. All members receive a free book as well as refreshments provided by the librarian. Membership is open to all students who enjoy reading and discussing books.

Conference Room
The conference room is available to students for tutoring or small group study.

Lost & Found
The Lost & Found is located at the circulation desk of the LMC. Students should put their name on all their books, calculators, notebooks, etc. so that the items may be claimed if lost.
