Turnitin - Student User
For
students without a user profile:
- Go to www.turnitin.com
- In
upper right corner, click New Users.
- Select
user type student.
- Class
ID and Password come from your teacher:
Class ID ____________________________
Password
___________________________
- Type
your full email address. (If you do not have an email account,
create one at
www.hotmail.com, www.yahoo.com..etc.
You will need to check this email for messages from your teacher or Turnitin!)
- Your
personal password – different from your class password – should be
your St.
Pat login name (what you use to sign onto the computers).
- Select
a secret question (you will need this if you forget your password).
- Enter
your first and last name.
- Agree
to all terms and conditions.
- End
wizard and login using your full email address and personal password. Make
sure it worked!
If
you’ve created a Turnitin account already, follow these steps:
- Go to www.turnitin.com. Login using your
full email address and password.
[If you don’t remember your
password, click Password Help at the top of the screen and then follow
directions. You will need to go to your email, open the email from Turnitin,
click the provided link, and change your password.]
- Once
you have logged in, click Enroll in New Class.
- Class
ID and Password provided by your teacher. (See above)

Submitting a Paper
- Make
sure your paper is saved on the File Server (H: drive), a flash drive
plugged into the computer, or wherever else you may have stored your paper
on the computer.
- Go to www.turnitin.com and login.
- Click
on the name of the class.
- Click
on the Submit Paper icon.
- Type
the necessary information (i.e. the title of your paper).
- Click
the Browse button. Find where your paper is saved. Open.
- Click Submit.
- Check
your paper. If it looks correct, click Yes, submit. If this is not
the correct copy, click No, go back and re-submit.
Discussion Forum
- Log in
to www.Turnitin.com
- Click
on your class link.
- Select
the gray Discussion tab above your class list.
- Choose
Reply to Topic.
- Follow
your teacher’s instructions.
