Dear Senior Family,

We hope this finds you and your loved ones safe and well as we look forward to our surprise Senior Celebration on Tuesday (more details to follow).

We are writing to regrettably inform you that Holy Name Cathedral has made the difficult decision to cancel all graduation ceremonies through the end of the year. Unfortunately, this means we will be unable to celebrate the Class of 2020 Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday, July 14 at Holy Name Cathedral, as planned.

We know what Graduation at Holy Name means to our seniors and their families, and while we certainly understand the decision, we join you in the disappointment it brings. However, please know that we will do everything we can to hold a Graduation Ceremony on July 14 and make it as meaningful and special as social distancing and public health official’s guidelines allow.

We will have Locker Clean Out for the Senior Class June 9-12. More details and designated times for your senior to pick up/drop off his belongings, including Band and Athletic equipment, Art materials, medical records, etc. will be provided. We will also distribute caps and gowns at that time.

Lastly, we will be sending you and your sons a survey by the end of this month about your Cyber learning experience these last few months. Your feedback is important to us as we look at possible scenarios for the fall semester.

While no one could’ve prepared for this ending to the school year, or the disappointment of being unable to hold this year’s Graduation at Holy Name Cathedral, please know we remain proud of this senior class and the resiliency they have shown during this challenging time. They have certainly solidified their place in our school’s history. They are forever in our hearts.

Please stay safe and well as we continue to keep you in our prayers.

God Bless,

Joseph G. Schmidt
