September 28, 2007
Senior Michael Cermak shot a one-over-par score of 73 to take home medallist honors at the East Suburban Catholic Conference Boys Golf Championships on Thursday, September 28. Cermak’s younger brother, Patrick, a freshman, shot a two-over-par round of 74 to finish in a tie for third place. Saint Patrick finished fourth in the tournament, which was held at Chevy Chase Golf Club in Wheeling. The Shamrocks took third place in the conference based on a points system, which balances performance in conference dual meets, where the Shamrocks went 7-2, and the conference championships.
Michael Cermak was consistent, shooting a 37 on the front nine, and a 36 on the back nine for his 73. Patrick Cermak carded an even par 36 on the front and a two-over-par 38 on the back. Kevin Lang and Dan Kasperek struggled early, but came on strong on the back nine. Lang shot a 43 on the front nine, but rebounded with a 39 on the back nine for a 10 over par total of 82. Kasperek shot a 48 on the front, but settled down with a 41 on the back side for a total of 89. Adam Clare (93) and Nick Cannella (97) also competed for the Shamrocks.
Michael Cermak has had an incredible season for the Shamrocks, taking medallist honors in all nine E.S.C.C. Dual matches for the Shamrocks. Cermak was also the medallist in four tournaments that the Shamrocks played in. |
