Registration for the Shamrock Wrestling Club will be held in the Saint Patrick High School Cafeteria from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on Tuesday, October 9 and Tuesday, October 30, with practices beginning in November.  Boys from third through eighth grades are eligible to sign up.  The fee for the club is $90 per wrestler, with each additional family member costing $75.  Fees cover a USA Wrestling membership card, and insurance as well as team sweats and a t-shirt.  Practices are held in the wrestling room at Saint Patrick, two to three times per week, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Tournaments are usually held on Sundays. 

Wrestling is a great sport for young men, because it stresses self-discipline and physical conditioning.  Wrestling also gives young men an opportunity to build their self-confidence.  The weight classes in youth wrestling range all the way from 40 pounds to 275 pounds, affording wrestlers the opportunity to compete against kids their own age and weight. Nobody sits on the bench in wrestling.  Each wrestler will have the opportunity to wrestle in 30 matches, including the State Tournament Series. 

With over 45 years of combined experience, the coaching staff of the Shamrock Wrestling Club knows their wrestling.  Our coaches have competed, and officiated at the grade school, high school and college levels.  The Shamrocks are always looking for additional assistance in coaching the team.  

This is the 14th year that Saint Patrick High School has sponsored a grammar school wrestling team.  Last year’s team consisted of 30 boys from a dozen area grammar schools.  Two wrestlers advanced to the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation State Tournament, with one Shamrock winning a Fourth-Place Medal.
