Joe Przekota, a sophomore water polo player at Iona College, was named the Collegiate Water Polo Association Northern Division Player of the Week on Monday following a 2-2 week for the Iona Gaels at the Navy Invitational.  

Przekota recorded 14 goals, three assists, four steals and drew 16 kick outs in four games as the Gaels knocked off Gannon and Penn State Behrend while falling to No. 13 Pacific and No. 11 Navy.  For his career, Przekota now has 64 goals with 73 kick outs drawn as he led Iona in both stats (50 G, 57 KD) as a freshman.

Przekota graduated from Saint Patrick in 2006.  As a Shamrock he was a three-time All-State selection, and was named Illinois Player of the Year following the 2006 season.  Przekota served as captain of both the swimming and water polo teams in his final season at Saint Patrick.
