Cermak Breaks Course-Record in Lincoln Way Tournament
August 20, 2007

On August 17, Michael Cermak shot a course-record round of six-under-par 66 to take home medallist honors at the Lincoln Way Central Invitational.  Cermak carded seven birdies and one bogey in the round, shooting identical scores of 33 on both the front and back nines.  Cermak lapped the field, finishing nine shots ahead of the second-place finisher, and 13 shots ahead of the third-place golfer.

Pat Cermak finished fourth with a round of 81, while Mike Day shot 87, and Dan Kasperek finished with a score of 90 to round out the Shamrock lineup.  The Shamrocks finished second, three shots behind first-place Providence, with a team score of 324.

Earlier in the week, Michael Cermak began the 2007 campaign by taking the medallist honors at the Prairie Ridge Early Bird Invitational for the second straight year.  Cermak carded an even par score of 72 in the event at Prairie Isle Golf Club.  Cermak shot a one-over-par 37 on the front nine, and he fired a one-under-par score of 35 on the back nine.

The Shamrocks finished in eighth place out of ten teams entered in the event, with a team score of 327, 16 strokes behind first-place Barrington.  Kevin Lang carded a ten-over-par 82.  Nick Cannella shot an 87, and Dan Kasperek shot an 89.  Freshman Pat Cermak, the youngest of the four Cermak brothers, shot 87 in his first high school tournament.
