Volleyball Ties for First at Mount Carmel Tournament
April 7, 2008

The Saint Patrick volleyball team is starting to come together. Following a mediocre start that saw them post a 7-6 record in their first 13 matches, the Shamrocks hit their stride at the Mount Carmel Tournament on April 5. The Shamrocks won four five matches at Mount Carmel to improve their season record to 11-7. John Coen was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Shamrocks opened the tournament by dominating the three teams in their pool, scoring easy victories over Maount Carmel, Marian Catholic and Kelvyn Park. Saint Patrick was then placed in a “power pool” along with Reavis and Andrew. In their first power pool match, the Shamrocks came from behind to defeat Reavis. In their final match of the day, a weary Shamrock squad fell to a well-rested Andrew squad that had a match off as the Shamrocks battled Reavis.

The Shamrocks travel to Proviso West and Glenbard West for non-conference matches this week, before beginning East Suburban Catholic Conference play at Notre Dame on April 15.
