Track Competes at Chicago Catholic Schools Invite

The Saint Patrick Shamrocks placed 11th out of 22 teams competing in the annual Chicago Catholic Schools Invitational Track & Field Meet, which was held at Lewis University on March 9. The Shamrocks collected a total of 29.5 points, leaving them well behind De La Salle, which won the meet with 70 points, but only 6.5 points behind Seton Academy, which took sixth place with a total of 36 points.
Vince Johnson and Erik Schmidt led the way for the Shamrocks, who had six athletes earn points. Johnson won the Long Jump competition, leaping a distance of 21’ – 4.25”, while Schmidt placed second in the 800 Meter Run, posting a time of 2:04.02. Patrick Nelson took fourth place in the High Jump, clearing a height of 5’-10”. Brian Daly finished sixth in the 800 Meter Run, with a time of 2:07.45. Tim Puczkowskyj and Mike Pullega finished seventh and eighth respectively in the Pole Vault. Puczkowskyj cleared the bar at 8’-6”, while Pullega vaulted a height of 8’-0”.
