  Ridley and Johnson lead Shamrocks to 2nd in E.S.C.C.

Led by Mark Ridley and Vince Johnson, the Saint Patrick Track & Field Team took second place at the East Suburban Catholic Conference Championship at Carmel on May 10. Saint Patrick tallied 96.5 points, trailing only Benet Academy (153). Carmel finished in third place with 84.25 points.

Ridley claimed the title of “fastest man in the E.S.C.C.” by winning both the 100 Meter Dash and the 200 Meter Dash, while placing third in the 400 Meter Dash and the Long Jump. Johnson won the Long Jump and the Triple Jump.

Mike O’Neill and Brian Ruiz scored for the Shamrocks in two events. O’Neill placed third in the Shot Put, and sixth in the Discus. Ruiz finished second in the 300 Meter Hurdles, and sixth in the 110 Meter Hurdles. Justin Pagan placed second in the Discus, Erik Schmidt finished third in the 800 Meter Run, Patrick Nelson and Sam Chwarzynski tied for fourth in the High Jump, Matt Albert finished sixth in the 3,200 Meter Run, and Kiante Green finished sixth in the 400 Meter Dash.

This week the Shamrocks will compete with 19 other teams at the Chicago (Hanson Stadium) Sectional of the IHSA State Track and Field Championships. The meet will take place at Hanson Stadium on Friday, May 18.
