The Saint Patrick High School golf team came out of the gate strong to start the 2005 season. The Shamrocks opened the year by placing second by two shots to Crystal Lake Central in a five-team tournament at Prairie Ridge on August 15. Matt Cermak paced the Shamrocks with a 74, and Mike Cermak carded an 82.

Saint Patrick followed that up with a 15-stroke victory in the Lincoln-Way Quad on August 19. Matt Cermak was the Medalist with a 68. Ryan Hoesley shot 73, while Mike Cermak shot 74, and Matt Merkel finished with a 78. On August 23 the Shamrocks scored a 41-stroke victory over Montini in their first nine-hole dual meet of the season. The Shamrocks had five golfers break 40: Mike Cermak 34, Hoesley 36, Merkel 37, Matt Cermak 38, and Brian O’Connor 39.

On August 25 the Shamrocks recorded a 20-stroke win over Driscoll (142-162). Matt Cermak again paced Saint Patrick with a three under par score of 32. Mike Cermak carded a 34, while Hoesley shot a 37 and Merkel fired a 39.

The Shamrocks open East Suburban Catholic Conference play with matches against Joliet Catholic and Saint Joseph before playing in the Fenton Invitational this weekend.
