The Saint Patrick Track & Field Team placed first out of 22 teams at the IHSA’s Chicago (Saint Patrick) Sectional Meet last weekend. The Shamrocks finished with 130 points. Lane Tech edged out St. Ignatius for second place 102-101.

Seven Shamrocks qualified for the IHSA State Finals this weekend. Frank Prill qualified in the Pole Vault (13’-0”), 110 Meter High Hurdles (14.5), and the 300 Meter Intermediate Hurdles (40.4). Phil Hizel qualified in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 1:59.5, Peter Puczkowskyj qualified in the Pole Vault (12’-6”), Vince Johnson qualified in the Triple Jump (42’-1.75”), and Justin Pagan qualified in the Discus with a throw of 125’-0”. A pair of Shamrock shot putters earned trips downstate as well as Matt Gallagher (45’-5”), and Mike O’Neill (44’-8”) finished one-two in the event.

The IHSA Class AA Track and Field Championships will take place this Friday and Saturday at O’Brien Stadium in Charleston.
