The Saint Patrick volleyball team is having one of the best seasons in school history. On Wednesday the IHSA announced that the 24-8 Shamrocks earned the top seed in the Chicago (Saint Patrick) Regional. The Shamrocks are seeded second in the Oak Park (Oak Park-River Forest) Sectional behind the Huskies of Oak Park-River Forest.
Last week the Shamrocks took first place at the Latin School Tournament, including a thrilling come from behind win over one of the top teams in the state, St. Francis. The Shamrocks have won seven straight matches, and they appear to be peaking at the right time. In their first match the Shamrocks destroyed Holy Trinity in two games 25-9, 25-8. In their second match the Shamrocks started slow against Lakes High School, winning 25-19 in the first game before taking charge with a 25-8 win in the second game. In their third match the Shamrocks took on Illiana Christian, and dropped the opening game 23-25. Saint Patrick rallied to win the next two games 25-22, and 15-9 to take the match. St. Francis beat the Shamrocks soundly in the first game of their match, 25-15, but the Shamrocks came back again, winning the final two games 26-24 and 24-23 to score the upset. In their final match the Shamrocks beat Lake Forest Academy 25-14 and 25-17 to complete their perfect week.
