  Track Places Second at E.S.C.C. Championship

The Saint Patrick Track & Field Team took second place at the East Suburban Catholic Conference Championship at Notre Dame on May 13. Saint Patrick tallied 115 points, trailing only Benet Academy (139). Notre Dame finished in third place with 110 points.

Frank Prill paced the Shamrocks, winning the 110 Meter Hurdles, placing second in both the Pole Vault and the 400 Meter Dash, and finishing fourth in the 300 Meter Hurdles. Joe Lill won the 3200 Meter Run. The Shamrocks scored big in the relay events, winning both the 800 Meter (Eric Morris, Brian Ruiz, Brandon Kreczmer, Mark Ridley), and 3200 Meter (Phil Hizel, Erik Schmidt, Andrew Urdiales, Prill), Relays.

Ridley scored for the Shamrocks in three events, placing second in both the 100 Meter Dash and the 200 Meter Dash, and taking sixth in the Long Jump. Hizel finished second in the 800 Meter Run. Vince Johnson placed second in the Triple Jump and fifth in the High Jump, Jerome Robinson finished second, and Wally Labuz placed fourth in the High Jump, Matt Gallagher finished fifth in the Shot Put, and Eric Schmidt finished sixth in the 400 Meter Dash.

This Friday the Shamrocks will host 21 other teams for the Chicago (Saint Patrick) Sectional of the IHSA State Track and Field Championships. The meet will take place at Hanson Stadium.
