Shamrocks Destroy Chargers, 42-6

The Saint Patrick Shamrocks moved to 3-1 on the season with a 42-6 dismantling of Saint Joseph on September 17th.
Mark Dietz and Kevin Golden each scored twice in the first quarter as Saint Patrick built a 28-0 lead in the first 12 minutes of play. Joe Nee and Mike Lupa added second quarter touchdowns as the Shamrocks took a 42-0 advantage into the half.
Saint Patrick took advantage of great field position to quickly score touchdowns on their first four possessions. The Shamrock scoring drives covered 24 yards on three plays, 18 yards on two plays, one yard on one play, and 60 yards on five plays. The average starting point for the eight Shamrock drives in the first half was the Saint Joseph 32 yard line.
Offensively the Shamrocks spread the ball around with five different players rushing for at least 19 yards: Golden (44), Dietz (35), Lupa (20), Brian Felke (19), and Dan O'Donnell (19). Tom Barrett was a perfect five for five throwing the ball for 43 yards, while George Hickey connected on one of two passes for 50 yards. Six different receivers: Lupa, Dietz, Golden, Jason Genova, Nick Infante, and Michael Kotz caught passes for the Shamrocks.
Defensively, the Shamrocks forced five turnovers and held Saint Joseph to 109 yards on 42 offensive plays. Brandon Kreczmer tallied five tackles, intercepted a pass, and recovered a fumble, while Tino Santiago added four tackles, including two sacks.
The Shamrocks made several big plays on defense as Jack Lonquist, Nee, and Jason Genova all intercepted passes, and Joel Rivera blocked a punt. |
