Lasallian Youth Group Gives Back to the community
November 30, 2005
Saint Patrick High School’s Lasallian Youth group has been hard at work finding a variety of ways to help those in need this holiday season. The group volunteered at Our Lady of Lourdes soup kitchen, and conducted a Holiday Food Drive over two weeks at Saint Patrick that was a rousing success.
Students, faculty and staff from Saint Patrick High School collected over 3,000 pounds of non-perishable food items as part of their holiday food drive. All food items were donated to the Saint Vincent DePaul Food Pantry. This year’s food drive saw a huge increase in donations from last year. “Last year I delivered the food in my car only, this year it took four cars to deliver the food. The food pantry people were overwhelmed with joy! This was the largest donation they received this year,” said Lasallian Youth moderator, Teisha Devine.
The St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry and Sandwich Window began in 1980, serving the poor and homeless men, women, and children of the Parish. More than 350 individuals in 250 households receive groceries from the Food Pantry. Groceries are sorted, assembled, and distributed in the community.
