Shamrocks Send supplies to troops in Iraq
December 13, 2004
During the first week of December, the students, faculty, and staff at Saint Patrick High School held a drive for military personnel serving in the mid-East. Over 309 pounds of toiletries, snack items, games, and other miscellaneous items were collected and shipped overseas in time to meet the Christmas holiday deadline.
Special thanks to Maureen Graney, Cathy Infante, Ann Christman, and Susan Gillespie for their work in coordinating the collection, packaging, and shipment of over fifty boxes of items. Ray DeFrisco, Dan Galante, and Rich Raho spearheaded a fundraising drive to help defray the cost of postage. Students donated over $400 out of their pockets to cover shipping costs. "We’re very proud of our students," said Brother Konrad Diebold, FSC, President. "Our kids are great. They’re always very generous when it involves helping others. Even though they may not agree with our presence in Iraq, the students obviously showed their support for our troops by the generosity." |
