Saint Patrick Performing Arts Centre Sunday Concert

In keeping with its mission of serving as a cultural resource to the community, Saint Patrick Performing Arts Centre is proud to announce its second concert of the fall season, featuring distinguished artists of varied musical disciplines.  Titled From Opera to Gershwin, the concert will feature Christian Ketter, baritone, accompanied by Steven Heliotes, pianist.

The concert is scheduled for Sunday, December 2 at 2 p.m. in the casual setting of the Lasallian Lounge located on the second floor of the Performing Arts Centre.  Tickets are priced at $18.00 and include complimentary snacks, wine, tea, and coffee.  Keeping with the intimacy of the room, seating is limited to just 40 and a quick sellout is expected.  To purchase tickets, phone Ann Christman at 773-282-8844, extension 223 or send check to Saint Patrick Performing Arts Centre, 5900 West Belmont, Chicago, IL  60634. 

Christian Ketter is a baritone, native to Chicago and a junior at Saint Patrick High School. A student of Metropolitan Opera’s premiere Verdi baritone, Sherrill Milnes, and Orna Arania, doctoral candidate at Northwestern University, and a professor at Northern Illinois University. He has also studied with director Tito Capobianco, and Assistant Director to the Metropolitan Opera, Howard Watkins.    His highlighted venues recently include the Lyric Opera, the Tampa Bay Opera, and even the stages of Disney World and Epcot Center. He has become one of Opera’s Rising Stars, as a new addition to the VOICExperience Foundation, a non-profit group dedicated to bringing opera to everyone.

Steven Heliotes has been active as pianist and accompanist in the Chicago area for many years.  He studied at American Conservatory and Roosevelt University.  He has appeared regularly at the Ritz-Carlton, the Peninsula Hotel, and the Chicago Theatre.  He and Christian entertain on weekends at Monastero’s Restaurant.

From Opera to Gershwin is a program sure to have a wide appeal as it offers a diversity of vocal and piano selections ranging from operatic arias to the best of Porter, Gershwin and Chopin.
