Saint Patrick Announces Homecoming Week Schedule
September 7, 2007
Saint Patrick High School recently announced the schedule of events for their 2007 Homecoming. Homecoming Weekend at Saint Patrick is traditionally one of the most exciting weekends of the entire year.
On Friday, September 28 the festivities kick off with an all-school pep rally in the gymnasium. With the bleachers packed full of raucous students, the head coaches of the fall sports introduce each of their athletes individually. Traditionally, Head Football Coach Dan Galante does his best to whip the crowd of nearly a thousand young men into a frenzy. The rally concludes with Assistant Principal, Charles Schmidt, leading the Shamrocks in a rousing rendition of the school song, “You’re a Grand Old School.”
Students, faculty and staff return to school for a barbecue at 5:00pm. Following the barbeque, they’ll decorate vehicles for the Homecoming Parade. The parade will leave Saint Patrick at 6:45pm and travel south on Austin to Fullerton before turning east and heading to Hanson Stadium.
At 8:00pm Friday, the football team takes on the Corsairs of Carmel in an exciting East Suburban Catholic Conference showdown. The athletic action continues on Saturday as the Shamrock soccer team hosts Joliet Catholic Academy at Resurrection High School, and the cross-country team runs in the Maine West Invitational. The Shamrock golf team doesn’t compete that weekend, but they will hopefully be celebrating a conference championship from earlier in the week.
The weekend culminates with the annual Homecoming Dance, which will be held on Saturday, September 29. The dance will take place in the Grand Ballroom (Gymnasium) of the Giovannetti Centre for Sport from 7:00pm to 10:30pm.
