Saint Patrick Celebrates Founder’s Day
May 15, 2008

On Tuesday, May 15, 2008 the students faculty and staff of Saint Patrick High School came together to celebrate Founder’s Day with a mass presided over by guest celebrant Bishop Thomas Paprocki, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago. The Founder’s Day mass celebrates the Canonization of Saint John Baptist de La Salle on May 15, 1900, and the proclamation of de La Salle as heavenly patron of all teachers on May 15, 1950.

St. John Baptist de La Salle, a French priest, who saw the need for a group of lay men who would dedicate their lives to the ministry of Christian education, especially for the poor, founded the Brothers of the Christian Schools over 320 years ago. Their mission has always been "to give a human and Christian education to the young, especially the poor." Today they minister with over 73,000 lay colleagues and teach over 900,000 students in 80 countries.
