Saint Patrick Announces Essay Contest Winners
April 29, 2008

Saint Patrick High School recently announced the winners of the school’s annual essay contest. Seniors Jonathan Gonzalez and Erik Schmidt, junior Robert Janowski, sophomores Matthew Forrest and Ryan Rosetti and freshman Corey Stuckey were honored with certificates and monetary prizes.

Students were provided with a quote, and they were given an hour to organize and write an essay based on that quote. Essays were judged by the English Department faculty, along with 20 colleagues from other departments.

The purpose of the contest is to instill the importance of good writing. Each English class at selected one student as their best writer, and that student represented the class in the essay contest, which was held on Thursday, April 17.

A total of 36 students participated in the contest, with winners selected from each of six categories: freshman and sophomore Phoenix, junior and senior Phoenix, freshman and sophomore College Prep, junior and senior College Prep, freshman and sophomore Honors, and junior and senior Honors.
