Saint Patrick Holds 146th Commencement

Saint Patrick High School held its 146th Baccalaureate Liturgy and Commencement Exercises at Holy Name Cathedral on May 29. 227 Saint Patrick students received diplomas in the ceremony. Stanley Swat was honored as the Valedictorian, while Robert Czupryna was recognized as the Salutatorian.
In addition to these two fine students, Saint Patrick honored 16 other students who graduated with honors: Esteban Betancourt, Marcin Dzadz, Anthony Falasz, Thomas Giza, Brian Glynn, Christopher Lehr, James McKay, Michael Mockler, John Moriarty, Eric Morris, Michael Morun, Gregory Platt, Richard Schak, Brendan Skelton, Kevin Tisza, and Jeffrey Winter.
Each department at Saint Patrick presents one student with a merit award for excellence in their coursework. This year's senior winners were Edward Burns for Art, Joseph Fagiano, Sam Maniscalco, and James Ridgeway for Athletics, Frank Costa for Business, Jeffrey Kosovich for Composition, Gregory Platt for Foreign Language, Kevin Kaucher for Drama, Stephen Litewski for English, Robert Stanczuk for Music, Robert Czupryna for Mathematics, Daniel Bowery for Religious Studies, James Porretta for School Service, John Gurnig for Science, Paul Cade for Social Studies, and Bryan Mordan for Shamrock Council.
One hundred and thirty-six of the graduates will attend a four-year college or university next fall. More than ten Shamrocks will attend each of the following four-year institutions: Northeastern Illinois University, DePaul University, University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign), and Lewis University. Seventy-five Shamrocks will attend two-year community colleges in the fall. In all, 93% of the graduating class will begin college next year.
