Saint Patrick Announces Quinn-Nelson Scholarship Winners

Saint Patrick High School recently announced the winners of the Quinn-Nelson Scholarships for the 2006-07 school year. In order to be considered for a Quinn-Nelson Scholarship, students were required to complete two semesters of work and submit a project displaying their creative composition skills. Jeremy Schultz ’08 (Chicago/Immaculate Conception) and John Catalano ‘08 (Elmwood Park/St. Celestine) were awarded $500 prizes and Certificates of Excellence.
In recognition of their participation in the Quinn-Nelson Scholarship Program, a Certificates of Achievement was awarded to Edward Gaskew. Certificates of Participation were awarded to the following students: Daniel Curley, Michael DeLisle, William Foley, Leon Hernandez, Kyle Johnson, Daniel Kunath, Patrick Lee, Augustino Pasquale, Antonio Ramirez, Michael Ryan, Robert Samuelson, George Sauvageau, Jarrett Smith, Piotr Szymanski, Alexander Zalewski, and Christopher Zavacki.
The Quinn-Nelson Scholarship Program is named in honor of longtime English teachers Paul J. Quinn and Jack Nelson. James Turano, a 1982 graduate of Saint Patrick, is the benefactor of the program, which awards two $500 prizes each year. Turano began the program in 1999 in order to pay tribute to Quinn and Nelson, who were both instrumental in his education at Saint Patrick. Turano currently appears as a daily contributor on the “Garry Meier Show”, which airs weekdays from 8:00 am to 11:00 am on 105.9 FM – WCKG.
